Nursing Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant provides clinical care to patients in a clinical setting and specialized clinical care to patients in a surgical setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Obtain and document patient’s medical history, physical assessment, Review of Symptoms, medications, and Consent for Care Enter patient’s medical information in an EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system Take vital signs and administer local anesthesia and / or medication to patients Discuss and explain examinations, treatments, and procedures to patients Schedule patient surgeries, as needed Prepare Operating Room and / or Clinic Rooms for patients Ensure surgery unit is compliant with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards Assist Physician and / or Physician Assistant with surgical procedures, treatments, and examinations Provide assistance or backup relief for Operating Room Technician, as needed Provide post-op care / medications and review post-op instructions with surgical patients Conduct drug inventories Demonstrate positive attitude with team leadership qualities Perform other duties as assigned

Education and / or Experience High School diploma or equivalent Valid Driver License 1 year experience as a CMA, LPN or medical assistant preferred Dermatology experience preferred Must be proficient using computer software and entering data Communication Skills Ability to communicate in a professional manner, both verbal and written Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents pertaining to various medical, treatment, and surgical matters. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply medical or scientific logic to situations as needed. Physical Demands The duties of this position require the employee to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee must be able to assist or fully lift patients to and from a wheelchair.
