Medical Assistant Confidential Tuscaloosa, AL 35406 Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our gastroenterology clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of internal medicine systems, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support protocols. The Medical Assistant will assist in various clinical tasks, contributing to the overall patient care experience. Duties Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures in both outpatient and emergency medicine settings. Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and respiratory rate. Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining medical histories and documenting relevant information. Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper coding for insurance purposes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and medical equipment. Support the healthcare team in managing patient flow and scheduling appointments efficiently. Participate in patient education regarding treatment plans and preventive care measures. Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including basic life support procedures. Experience Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar healthcare role is preferred. Familiarity with gastroenterology medicine practices, outpatient care, emergency medicine, a plus Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and coding tasks. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to medical assisting are a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
