Duties and program responsibilities include:
The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) position serves as a member of the Community Care Consult team. The AMSA works collaborively with other members of expanded health care teams (i.e. PACT, specialty care) including Community providers, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, behavioral health staff, etc. to provide a robust interdisciplinary approach to care. Important interfaces and collaborions also occur with larger health care system providers including VA and Community specialists, hospitals, diagnostic and treing facilities, and community based programs. The AMSA works collaborively in an interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model (i.e. PACT, Specialty Clinics, C&P, Community Care) and performs receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely trement of pients and maintains appointment schedules for all Community Care. Communices with Community Care providers to ensure they accept VA pients and payments, prepare any required pre-appointment documents, schedules the approprie level of care and Community Care Advanced Medical Support Assistant Functional Stement documents the schedule in the approprie consult. Obtains medical documention from Community providers, scans to approprie consult within CPRS and view alerts the VA providers for continuity of care. Coordines internal and external care between customers and providers. Enters and edits Community Care program authorizions in the Fee Basis Computer System and mails/faxes letters to vendors and pients. Incumbent schedules community clinic appointment using VistA scheduling options and linking appointment to consult. Complete verificion with Community providers th pient made scheduled appointment. Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communices and tres customers (veterans, their representives Community Care Advanced Medical Support Assistant Functional Stement ors, staff, and internal and external providers) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR COMMUNITY CARE-PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 2-3
years of administrive and/or clinical background, preferred. Demonstres the ability to schedule and coordine appointments. Demonstres dependability and flexibility. Demonstres strong ability to function independently. Experience working with excel spreadsheets and word documents, required. Evidence of self-direction. Work Schedule :
Monday – Friday, 0800 – 1630 primary tour of duty with off-tour/weekend rotion as needed, to meet demands of the service. GS-06 Advanced Medical Support Assistant Experience – One (1) year of experience equivalent to the next lower (GS-05) grade level. Assignment . The Advanced MSA provides specialized and expert administrive pient support while working collaborively in an interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model. Work involves specialized administrive judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical flow processes reling to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or care in the community resources. Recommends changes to existing clinic procedures based on current administrive guidelines. Expertise in utilizing numerous advanced pient systems in support of multiple clinics involved in an interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model. Coordines with the pient care team to review clinic appointment availability (utilizion) to ensure th clinic schedules are closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinics, and makes adjustments as necessary. MSAs this level develop and/or maintain effective and efficient communicion with the pient, interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model teams, VA medical centers, and other agencies (e.g., assist with communicions during the inpient to outpient discharge; communice with non-VA medical facilities; prepare correspondence to notify pients of normal lab results; manage a system for follow-up care such as consults, tests, etc.). Other assignments this level include, but are not limited to: processes incoming pient secure messaging through MyHealthyVet and coordines with care team as approprie; participes in team huddles and team meetings to manage, plan, problem solve, and follow-up with pient care by sharing informion and collaboring with the interdisciplinary team; setting priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and pient needs; identifies incomplete encounters and communices findings to providers; as needed; assists the team to reinforce the plan of care and self-help solutions; enters approprie informion into the electronic record; monitors pre-appointment informion and/or requirements to assure readiness for pient /procedure; manages pient systems to verify and valide accuracy and resolve issues; evalues pient informion and clinic schedule lists to determine whether the pient requires an immedie appointment; informs team members about shared pients (i.e)., those who receive their care multiple VA centers or those who receive care in the community).
