ASSISTANT
for Rockledge and Merritt Island
- Serves as the first point of contact with patients entering the clinical area prior seeing a provider for a high volume family care practice.
- Prepares charts and physical facilities for patient encounters.
- Prepares patients for examination. Works with the medical and clerical staff (including billers, front desk and management).
Rotating Schedules M-F:
7:45 am
- 4:45pm, 8:00 am
- 5:00pm, and 10:15 am
- 7:15 pm and alternating Saturdays 7:45 am
- 3:00 pm and Sunday’s OFF

Essential Job Functions:
- Full time Postion
- The Medical Assistant may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.
- Assesses the providers with the patient, and assisting patients with medical family needs
- Collecting health status data and identifying patient problems.
- Prepares rooms , facility ,and the patient for examination.
- Assisting Providers with procedures and minor in-house surgeries.
- Performing EKG testing, DOTs , school physicals , spirometry , removing of sutures, routine Laboratory functions such as phlebotomy ,urine samples throat swabs, allergy testing, prepare specimens for send out, Vitals, Triages, medical phone questions, Medical Referrals. (Will spend 3 weeks of training with the Medical Assistant Lead), preparing injections for providers and
- collection and/or processing of laboratory specimens as ordered by the provider.
- Accurately entering data including labs results into EMR.
- Monitoring and keeping in order and cleanliness the clinical area, lab area , bathroom facilities and patient’s rooms.
- Helping Medical Assistant Lead keep inventory of medical supplies and advise when running low.
- Answering patient calls and responding to voice messages in a timely fashion.
In some cases help at the front desk as needed .
- Follows up on missed appointments, arranges treatments and periodic visits. Demonstrates the ability to identify and address the needs of different patient age groups and the ability to effectively communicate with these patients.
- Performs other duties as requested. Functions as a team player.
- Accepts changes to the schedule or workflow based on patient volumes.
- Computer literate, scanning documents and faxing required.
- Ability to learn quicly EMR/EHR program Qualifications
- Education and formal training:
Medical Assistant:
High school diploma or equivalency and Medical Assistant Training, or training as CNA and/or Phlebotomist or X-Ray technician.

Work Experience:
- One-year medical office and phlebotomy experience highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Visual acuity sufficient to read small typing and computer screen must be able to hear conversation level, must be able to bend, stoop and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be physically able to perform CPR. (CPR certification preferred)
- Must be able to handle stress well and able to multi task.
- Must be dependable, team player with a positive attitude toward patients and team.
- Must follow complete orders of the Medical providers: Medical Doctors, PA’s, ARNPs.
