Medical Assistant Florida Sports Injury and Orthopedic Institute 1925 Don Wickham Drive, Clermont, FL 34711 Summary Under the supervision of a physician, provides patient care to orthopedic patients Detailed Responsibilities Performs routine orthopedic procedures, including fitting, applying and removing casts, splints, bandages, braces, walkers, crutches, traction, pin/suture removal, and assists with reductions. Provides education to patients and their families on their injuries and use of casts, splints, crutches, and other orthopedic devices. Assist physician with orthopedic surgical procedures and/or with orthopedic procedures. Maintains stock of orthopedic equipment and supplies. Obtain vitals. Provide wound care and wound care education. Ortho Assistant order X-Rays based on the treatment plan by the physicians documentations. Obtains all results and/or outside images and reports at intake and downloads into Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Spanish Speaking Preferred Qualifications Proficient in medical administrative support and EHR systems Strong knowledge of medical terminology and physiology Ability to perform patient care tasks, including taking vital signs Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Experience in hospital settings, including outpatient and urgent care environments Bilingual in Spanish preferred for effective patient communication Familiarity with dermatology and emergency medicine is a plus
