Visage Dermatology is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team, supporting our St. Petersburg and Palmetto offices. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by assisting our dermatologists and providers with examinations, procedures, and patient education. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow in the dermatology field.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Clinical Support:

Assist dermatologists with patient examinations, biopsies, cosmetics, and surgical procedures, including Mohs, excisions, ED&C, cryotherapy, and laser surgery. Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs. Obtains photos, consents, and provides patient education materials to patients as instructed. Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care. Perform basic nursing procedures, including suture removal, dressing changes, and allergen patch testing. Ensure exam rooms are properly set up before procedures and cleaned afterward.

Procedure Assistance:

Prepare and assist in dermatologic procedures and minor surgical interventions. Maintain strict adherence to OSHA and HIPAA protocols. Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment. Accurately document procedural notes and follow-up instructions in patient charts.

Administrative Duties:

Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar. Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR). Complete and submit pathology and lab requisition documents.

Patient Communication:

Communicate treatment plans, follow-up instructions, and test results to patients. Respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy, both in person and over the phone.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

Work closely with dermatologists, providers, clinical staff, and administrative personnel to ensure seamless patient care. Collaborate with the care team to provide a coordinated approach to patient treatment.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical Assistant Certification (MA) preferred or willingness to obtain. Minimum of 2+ years of experience working in a medical office (dermatology experience preferred). Proficiency with EMR systems and patient charting. Experience with scribing patient history, doctor’s diagnosis, order entry, and treatment plans into charts. Strong knowledge of medical and dermatology terminology preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA compliance regulations. Ability to anticipate physician needs and work effectively as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to walk, stand, and move for most of the day. Ability to lift and move objects and equipment weighing 20-25 pounds.
