ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Exam rooms o Keep exam rooms organized and ready for Physician. Stock with adequate medical supplies and prescription pads for the days patient consultations are scheduled. Turn off all equipment at the end of the day and organize rooms for the next office day. o Obtain food lists, and any other form or documents needed in the patient rooms. o Notify office manager of any document that’s not legible or its needed as well as when prescription pads are running low, so they can be ordered. Welcome patients at time of arrival. o Escort patients to exam rooms; interview patient; measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure and pulse; update medication list, update pharmacy. o Ensure all related reports, labs, and information is filed in chart, and organized prior to Physician consultation. o Educate patient by providing medication information and instructions. Send new medications and refills right away after patient leaves or office hours are finished. o Always call patient by last name only and before starting the examination process, ask patient for DOB. o Prepare prescriptions needed for follow appointments for new patients such as ultrasounds and bloodwork orders. Medications. o Maintain medication list up to date in patient’s electronic chart. o Work Prior Authorizations for denied medications. And follow up. o Prepare and submit any clinical documentation necessary for the use of new medications and follow up with medical Rep if necessary. o Keep medications organized and stacked in medication closet. o Route any problem related to medication reactions or allergies to the medical staff in charge. Notate in log on patient chart. You are responsible to communicate the information and for patient’s well-being. Answer Telephones. o Answer phones, route calls to the appropriate staff member, if front desk cannot answer. o For appointment scheduling, or cancellations, route call to the front desk/scheduling clerk. Confidentiality. o Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPPA rules and regulations. o Complete HIPAA certification and office policy and procedures compliance form o Maintain privacy of fellow staff members, physician and practice by not engaging or sharing information with third parties outside of required work duties. o Keep office clean and organized. Lab results/Medical records o Work on medical records requests by faxing documentation requested by primary care doctors and insurance companies. o Maintain organization of charts by filing medical records once a week. o Review abnormal labs/test results with

MD/APPRN

on call o Schedule Kidney biopsies with hospitals by providing records and communicating with the Radiology Department.  Refer patient complaints or patient issues to office manager.  Perform other duties as assigned.
