Full Job Description SUMMARY:

The position of Medical Assistant is to provide assistance to medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients under general supervision.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant certificate
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, administration, faculty, and staff.
  • Handle the information with high level of confidentiality.
  • Considerable knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures. Ability
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
  • Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education.
  • Ability to act effectively in emergency situations. Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Assists medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
  • Maintains stocks of medical supplies as necessary in the exam rooms.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Translate when it is necessary.
  • Assist the supervisor as unusual problems arise.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor as required.
