• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens.
• Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
• Perform general office duties such as answering telephones and call back patients with lab results .
• Inform supervisor of low supplies so they can be ordered.
• Operate x-ray, electrocardiogram (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
• Prescription Refills to pharmacy

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduate of a medical assistant program, and current national certification required. six months of medical assistant experience in comparable health care setting.
