POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs nursing functions for physician/extender. Supports the Objectives and Philosophy of White-Wilson Medical Center.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position in an outpatient medical business office setting. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some overtime as approved in advance.
Travel:
This position does not require any travel.
Work Environment:
This position requires regular and reliable on-site attendance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares equipment and aids provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients including patient screening, histories, and vital signs.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with clinical standards.
Observes, records and reports patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. May perform point of care testing and resulting.
May perform venipuncture, ensuring accurate and safe collection of blood samples.
Performs patient outreach for value-based initiatives and patient optimization programs.
Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Assists in maintaining timely flow of patients.
Coordinates and schedules procedures at hospitals or surgery centers and handles any prior authorizations that may be necessary.
Initiates patient referrals and coordinates with staff if a patient has barriers with the outside referral.
Provides patient education regarding procedures.
Calls patients with necessary results.
Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Refills prescriptions and handles any medication authorizations for patients.
Maintains exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials.
Ensures cleanliness.
Consistently displays a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence.
Attends all department meetings and clinic required meetings.

Professional Knowledge Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
Graduation from an accredited medical assistant school or program. Possession of an active MA certification or registration (can be obtained during the first 6 months of employment).
Current American Heart Association recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
