StaffThe University of Miami UHealthDepartment of Executive Medicine has an exciting opportunity for afull time Medical Assistant (MA) to work at UHealth Palm Beach. Theincumbent shall perform multi-skilled tasks to assist the medicalproviders. The MA shall assist patients with healthcare managementand clinical procedures. The MA shall prepare patients prior to andpost examination, treatment or procedure under the directsupervision and responsibility of a physician. The physician incharge may delegate the tasks to oversee the MA to the NurseManager/Nurse Supervisor and/or Charge Nurse of the area.

CORE JOBFUNCTIONS

Obtains vital signs and patient information for inclusionin the patient’s medical record.

Administers injections ortreatments, performs routine laboratory tests, and assists in otherpatient care activities, such as dressing changes and legwraps.

Prepares treatment room for examination of patient.

Assistswith physical examinations by preparing supplies and handinginstruments and materials to the doctor as directed.

Providespatients with basic instruction and information regardingexamination procedures.

Cleans and sterilizes medical instrumentswhile observing the principles of sterile technique. Schedulespatients for tests and completes required forms for laboratorywork.

Maintains accurate and complete patient records anddocumentation.

Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies and escortsand transports patients to various hospital locations.

Adheres toUniversity and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguardsUniversity assets.

COREQUALIFICATIONS
Education:

High School Diploma or GEDequivalentGraduate from an accredited radiology programRequiredMedical Assistant certification and graduate from accredited

Medical Assistant ProgramCertification and Licensing:

Required anactive and current BLS provider card by the American HeartAssociationRequired Phlebotomy certification

Experience:

Minimum 3year of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Skill incompleting assignments accurately and with attention todetail.

Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work underpressure while meeting deadlines.

Ability to process and handleconfidential information with discretion.

Ability to work evenings,nights, and weekends as necessary.
