Videos Duties The Advanced Medical Support Assistant supports the compliced and heavy volume sections, one specific section a primary with all others as secondary coverage as needed. The AMSA monitors encounters, consults, pient calls, new consult appointments for primary work assignment and assists with secondary as needed, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow. Advanced Medical Support Assistant duties include but are not limited to the following: Assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility for primary section; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work; Ensuring accure and timely scheduling of appointments. Providing guidance to section staff members to include changes in policies and procedures. Orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees. Organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas. Reports any issues between AMSA and staff to Lead MSA to resolve conflicts. Distributes, balances workload and tasks assuring and physically monitoring the timely accomplishment of work assigned for Surgical Sections. Develops and/or maintains effective and efficient communicion with the pient, interdisciplinary team, VA medical centers, and other agencies.

Work Schedule :

Specialized Experience . One-year equivalent to least next lower grade level (GS-679-05). Medical Support Assistant (Advanced), GS-679-06 Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level. Assignment. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (MSA’s) work involves specialized administrive judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical flow processes reling to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or care in the community resources. Expertise in utilizing numerous advanced pient systems in support of multiple clinics involved in an interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model. Coordines with the pient care team to review clinic appointment availability (utilizion) to ensure th clinic schedules are closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinics and make adjustments as necessary. Develop and/or maintain effective and efficient communicion with the pient, interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model teams, VA medical centers, and other agencies (e.g., assist with communicions during the inpient to outpient discharge; communice with non-VA medical facilities; prepare correspondence to notify pients of normal lab results; manage a system for follow-up care such as consults, tests, etc.). Processes incoming pient secure messaging through My HealtheVet and coordines with care team as approprie. Setting priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and pient needs; identifies incomplete encounters and communices findings to providers. Enters approprie informion into the electronic record; monitors pre-appointment informion and/or requirements to assure readiness for pient /procedure; manages pient systems to verify and valide accuracy and resolve issues; evalues pient informion and clinic schedule lists to determine whether the pient requires an immedie appointment; informs team members about shared pients (i.e., those who receive their care multiple VA centers or those who receive care in the community).
