Min $17.48 Mid $20.10 Position Summary Under general direction, the Medical Assistant works with patients, families, providers, other providers, and staff to promote timely access to needed care, providing daily continuity of care coordination, and coaching patients, families, and caregivers to understand the patient’s care plan and self-care management responsibilities. LRHPG Medical Assistant Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Assist in delivering quality care to providers, patients, patients’ families, and caregivers. Be aware and sensitive to cultural differences between patients and co-workers. Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for patients, their families, and co-workers in professional appearance. Perform job related duties such as vital signs, phlebotomy, assisting with procedures as trained, and EKG. Engage patients, patients’ families, and their caregivers in understanding and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver. Collect and document data related to patient needs, with the exception of entering orders into the EMR, which should only be done by the Certified Medical Assistant Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families, care team that supports their access to the medical home. Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up actions between disciplines. Participate in continuing professional growth through attendance at workshops and professional in-services and through independent research and reading to include timely and respectful communication skills. Perform duties in a manner that is culturally and, if applicable, use translation service when appropriate. Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and willingness to cooperate while working with others in multi-disciplinary teams with activities to include participating in daily huddles. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with provider directives. Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of exam rooms and stocks necessary supplies or materials as needed throughout the workday. The worker in this role must demonstrate competencies as applicable to job. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Competencies & Skills Nonessential:
Knowledge of professional medical assisting theory, federal and state regulations and standard practices and procedures that are within the standard scope of their practice. Knowledge of safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in identifying problems and clearly communicating and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing/maintaining medical records and responding to correspondence. Apply the principles of comprehensive, community-based, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care. Ability to maintain Joint Commission standards.
