Medical Assistant 2.7 2.7 out of 5 stars Donaldsonville, LA 70346 Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting. This position requires a strong understanding of medical procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Duties Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures in various departments, including Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Perform routine clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and documenting medical histories. Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic or outpatient facility, including sterilization of equipment. Support the operation of the clinic by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks as needed. Collaborate with nursing staff in specialized areas such as PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and OR (Operating Room) when required. Utilize knowledge of physiology to assist in patient education regarding health management and treatment plans. Requirements Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role within an outpatient or clinical setting is preferred. Familiarity with emergency medicine practices and protocols, especially within a Level I Trauma Center environment. Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and procedures. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Knowledge of vital signs assessment techniques and documentation practices. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred but not mandatory; relevant experience will be considered.
