JOB DESCRIPTION
The Certified Medical Assistant provides nursing care to patient’s in the physician offices under the supervision of the Clinic Physician. The supervising physician delineates the privileges and duties through skill assessment. They will assess the health status of assigned patients and collaborates with the nursing staff and the Physician to establish a basis for patient care. Contributes to the planning of nursing interventions, administers medications and treatments in accordance with policy and under the direct, supervision of the clinic physician/provider, documents and communicates changes in patient condition to other members of the health care team. Provides information regarding disease process and diagnostic procedures. Assists in scheduling referrals, appointments and consults. Participates in staff development; continuing education programs and performance improvement and quality checks. Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude and quality of work that promotes consistent customer centered services. Respects patient’s right to privacy. Adapts care to the patient’s level of development/age specific needs. Assumes responsibility for own continuing education. The Certified Medical Assistant must follow hospital/clinic policy and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate from an approved medical assistant program. Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory.
