MEDICAL ASSISTANT/LAB ASSISTANT
Responsibilities:

Phlebotomy (blood collection) Checking patient vitals and recording in EMR Ensuring all lab results are input into EMR Maintaining accurate records in EMR and adhering to all HIPAA Protocols Performs all routine lab tests accurately within established turnaround times Multi-tasks effectively Works independently with minimal supervision, utilizing available resources including Technical Consultant when appropriate Readily looks for additional tasks during periods of reduced workload Quality Understands specimen requirements for each test and evaluates specimens for proper identification and integrity through visual checks and result evaluation Ability to recognize discrepant or unexpected test results. Includes troubleshooting and documentation Follows protocols for instrument maintenance, running controls and accepting, verifying and recording QC results Reports critical values to appropriate personnel with proper documentation Maintaining records which demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are testing in the same manner as patient specimens. Also, this employee is required to perform and/assist WHEN needed: Scheduling and performing appointments Fielding questions, orders, and membership updates Serving as the liaison between front desk and clinical staff Maintaining professionalism and treating patients with respect while creating a welcoming environment Compliance Complies with all policies and procedures including, but not limited to, confidentiality, safety, infection control, cooperation, flexibility and attendance Complies with COLA and CLIA regulatory standards Team work/Customer service Interacts with coworkers in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative work environment Assists others when own workload allows or when a customer service need arises. Effectively communicates pertinent information to ensure continuity of care Licensure Must possess a Certified Medical Assistant Certification. Laboratory Assistant license from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners is a plus however must be willing to obtain if hired as a condition of employment.
