Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM•4:30 PM 40 hours per week No weekends Estimated end date: 12/31/2025 (possibility of extension or conversion)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant II to provide clinical and administrative support in a busy cardiology department. This is a local-only position covering a leave of absence, with potential for extension or hire.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain exam rooms and patient charts. Assist with patient flow and ensure smooth clinic operations. Take vital signs, perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and medication verifications. Assist with exams, lab tests, and minor procedures. May help with medication renewals and administration (vaccines, IM, subcutaneous injections) under provider orders. Manage patient scheduling, calls, and care coordination (scheduling tests, surgeries, follow-ups). Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain supply inventory, clean exam rooms, and sterilize instruments. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and institutional compliance standards. Participate in quality improvement and ongoing training.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. BLS certification required (must include skills assessment). 2-3 years of recent Medical Assistant experience required. MA certification preferred but not required. Experience with electronic medical records preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
