Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) interviews and initiates carefor patients who visit our clinics and plays key roles in the careprovided, up to and including specimen collection and delivery oftest results.

Responsibilities:

Interviews patients to collect and document history of presentillness (HPI), medication reconciliation, history ofallergies. Performs vital sign measurement and any standard testing perclinic procedures Coordinates and performs follow-on procedures as directed by aprovider, including but not limited to onsite testing, specimencollection, and wound care. Assists with provider-performed procedures such as sutureapplication or splints Communicates with patients in a timely and effective mannerregarding their care. Notifies patients of test and lab results.

Patiently and clearly explains practice policies and proceduresusing cultural competency and active listening. Documents care into electronic medical recordkeeping system(EMR). Ensures completion of necessary documentation andforms. Collects and prepares testing specimens as needed for transportto offsite laboratory. Maintains and monitors consumable supplies and medications foreffective ongoing clinical operations. Promotes a safe, clean and secure clinical environment for all,including the application of standard precautions and principles ofinfection control.

QualificationsRequired:

Must hold a current Medical Assistant certification.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) as issued by theNational Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) as issued by AmericanAssociation of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) as issued by the AmericanMedical Technologists (AMT) Medical Assistant (NCMA) as issued by the National Center forCompetency Testing (NCCT) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) as issued by the AmericanRegistry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Position will require the ability to lift supplies andequipment regularly and navigate clinical area actively throughoutwork.

Preferred:

Prior work experience in a clinical setting.
