MEDICAL ASSISTANT
SUPERVISOR- Full Time Minnie Jones Health Center, Asheville, NC, 28801 Are you looking for a work family? Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are committed to caring for our patients with purpose and integrity and providing our team members with the support they need. We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Supervisor (MAS) . The health center is only open during the day, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm. Therefore, MAs are not required to work evenings, nights, weekends or WNCCHS observed holidays . The Medical Assistant Supervisor (MAS) manages daily operations and staff at the health center. This role involves overseeing medical assistants, ensuring efficient workflows, maintaining compliance with regulations, and supporting the delivery of quality patient care. This role also handles tasks like scheduling, performance management, and staff training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes but not limited to the following: Administrative Responsibilities Provides day-to-day direct supervision/coaching of all MA I and II staff, prenatal support specialists and Procedure Coordinator/MA staff collaborating with HR on disciplinary actions, and feedback. Manages the daily workflow of the medical assistant team. Coordinates and adjusts staff schedules to ensure the best coverage and patient care. Ensures compliance with facility policies and Procedures. Organizes and leads team meetings. Ensures efficient and smooth patient flow. Delegates tasks to Medical Assistants as needed. Participate in recruitment, interviewing, orientation, and training of new medical assistants. Addresses operation and personnel-related concerns. Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to find operational improvements and implement solutions. Monitor compliance with training, certifications, and licensure requirements for the MA team. Track attendance, align PTO requests with staffing needs, and manage overall staff schedule document. Report on team performance trends, identifying gaps and areas for enhancement. Investigate and address patient or provider concerns related to MA services timely and effectively Clinical Responsibilities Perform advanced clinical duties as a working supervisor, including but not limited to: Preparation of patients for exams and procedures following the rooming protocol which includes collecting visit reasons, vital signs, and histoires. Perform basic diagnostic procedures as needed. Administering medications or injections under Provider direction. Assisting Providers with minor procedures. Serve as clinical expert/resource for medical assistants on complex tasks and procedures. Maintain high standards of patient care and safety, ensuring proper handling of supplies, equipment, and documentation. Monitors and ensures quality assurance of basic clinic functions. Ensure the stocking of exam rooms is standard and complete. Serve as an EPIC Super User Participate in meetings and serve on committees as requested. All other duties as assigned
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a Medical Assistant program Certification as a Medical Assistant, required Minimum of 3-5 years of Medical Assisting experience in Primary Care. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a supervisor. Current Basic Life Support Certificate, required Expert knowledge of medical group operations Experience documenting patient care in an electronic health record Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to work well in a team Ability to maintain confidentiality Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
