Experienced Medical Assistant Carolina Family Healthcare 11220 Elm Lane, Charlotte, NC 28277 Looking for an energetic, experienced Medical Assistant that is an extremely motivated individual to work with our patients. Candidates must display excellent communication and customer service skills along with the ability to multi-task efficiently. At least 2 years prior experience in medical office required. Athena experience a plus. Pediatric experience is a MUST! In this position, the Medical Assistant is responsible for performing duties in both clinical and administrative areas, including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environment and logistical tasks. The Medical Assistant’s primary clinical responsibilities include: Covid testing, Vaccines and Monoclonal Covid Treatment. Escort patients to exam/procedure rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse, & temperature) and collect patient history. Perform nursing procedures (under supervision of physician or physician assistant). Give instructions to patients/patients’ families as instructed by the physician or physician assistant. Serve as the first point of response to patient care related phone calls and messages; triage and process messages from patients/front office staff to physicians/physician assistants. Perform clinical pharmacology, including drug administration via various routes (including injections). Assist with minor surgical procedures, including pre/post surgical tray set up and care (such as applying dressings and suture removal). Initiate laboratory procedures in accordance with OSHA guidelines and quality control methods. Perform electrocardiography testing. Provide emergency triage and first aid. Schedule appointments and referrals; conduct follow-ups to ensure completion of physician’s orders. Support medication refills and lab reconciliation. Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits. Perform medical/surgical asepsis, sterilization, instrument wrapping and autoclaving. Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate supplies. Complete biohazard waste disposal The Medical Assistant’s primary administrative responsibilities include: Assemble patient health information, including symptoms and medical history, exam and X-ray results, lab tests, diagnoses and treatment plans. Ensure all related reports are available in the patient’s medical record prior to the appointment, updating/gathering new or missing information as required. Schedule physician and ancillary appointments. Reviews physician schedules and organizes patient flow. To perform in this role, the Medical Assistant must meet the following education, experience and physical requirements: High school degree or equivalent; college preferred Medical Assistant Certification Current American Heart Associate BLS Certification Minimum 2-years of relevant and recent experience working as a Medical Assistant in medical office Experience with Electrocardiogram Experience with measuring vital signs, venipuncture, capillary and injection Electronic health records technology experience Patient support, both in-person and via phone Able to lift 35 pounds Able to walk, stand, sit, lift, stoop and bend for the duration of the shift Strong dexterity in hands and fingers Strong concentration and attention to detail ability All Medical Assistants are expected to protect patient’s health information for confidentiality, authorized access for treatment and data security.
