Assignments this level include, but are not limited to: assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work; ensuring accure and timely scheduling of appointments; providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures; distributing and balancing workload; creing and maintaining employees work schedules; orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees; ensuring all training requirements are met; organizing the work structure of his/her assigned areas; and acting as liaison between MSA and staff in order to resolve day to day conflicts. The Lead MSA works collaborively in an interdisciplinary coordined care delivery model and performs all reled duties; customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely trement of pients and assure appointment schedules are maintained by MSA staff for one or more outpient clinics. The Lead MSA must assist with clinic access contingency plans by adjusting appointment times, locion, or des as well as shift pients to other healthcare providers as conflict with staffing and/or coverage occurs. The Lead MSA will have the responsibility of performing the duties reled to the Beneficiary Travel Program which includes assuring travel requests are processed in a timely manner and th they are reviewed and approprie documention completed before sending to Has or Fiscal Service. The Lead MSA will also train the MSA staff on how to process the beneficiary travel requests. The Lead MSA must assure th the requests entered by the MSA staff are reviewed by the Lead MSA or Supervisory MSA and if the requests are entered by the Lead MSA, they are reviewed by the Supervisory MSA or Supervisory Medical Administrion Specialist/designed management staff. Supports pient safety standards using the correct Veterans Affairs identificion of all pients through the use of two forms of identificion, name and full Social Security Number. The pient may also present the Veterans Health Identificion Card (VHIC) for identificion. When assisting the MSA staff in the check-in process, he/she must use each interaction with the pient to valide and upde pient demographic informion, either in person during check-in or over the phone, to decrease the incidence of returned mail due to incorrect addresses and inability to contact pient by phone due to incorrect number. Assures MSA staff explains the VA’s mande to collect insurance informion to veterans, their families, and other eligible pients. Assures staff collects, scans, and updes health insurance informion serving a major role in the revenue process. The incumbent(s) contributes to the revenue collection process by identifying pients with third party insurance. Promotes veteran registrion for and utilizion of MyHealtheVet (MHV). Assures front line contact with pients and staff by setting the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services the VA. A high degree of tact and diplomacy is required when dealing with veterans who have multiple health problems and who may be frustred with the administrive process associed with diagnosis and trement. A caring, compassione and sensitive manner is essential when explaining procedures to veterans and their family members both in person and on the phone. When records are received, the incumbent(s) will ensure th all necessary health/administrive informion are integred into Computerized Pient Record System (CPRS) by sending the documents to the approprie department for scanning. Incumbent(s) must be able to train staff on the requirements of VHA Scheduling Directives and complete accure scheduling responsibilities: a. Schedule appointments and utilize the Electronic Waiting List accurely in a timely manner. All appointments made with the pient’s input, either in person or by phone. This may require a high level of coordinion to avoid pients having to make multiple trips to the medical center or clinic whenever possible. b. Notifies his/her supervisor when clinic access is less than desirable or if an individual pient cannot be scheduled within manded clinic timeframes. c. Daily review of active/pending consults, Electronic Wait List, Recall list and Audiocare communicions for accuracy and disposition. d. Must be able to interpret and communice requirements for such areas Care in the Community, Health Benefits, Emergency Room, Ward Administrion and any other services with approved MSAs. All other duties as assigned.

In addition to the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-7 grade level requires a minimum of one (1) year experience the next lower grade level (GS-6 ). Assisting the unit with complex and non-standard procedures, including clinical flow processes reled to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. Ensuring accure and timely scheduling of appointments; providing guidance to staff members, to include changes in policies and procedures; creing and maintaining employee work schedules; acting as a liaison among Advanced MSA staff, pients, and other interdisciplinary staff to resolve day-to-day conflicts. In addition, you must have experience which demonstres the following knowledge, skills and abilities: 1. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes reling to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. 2. Ability to utilize numerous advanced pient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. 3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delege tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines. 4. Skill in communicing with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordining with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. 5. Ability to provide staff development and training. 6. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and pient needs.
