RESPONSIBILITIES
Works as an integral member of the health care team. Prepare client to see medical provider, collects and records data for health history to include height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, medication, and allergies, as indicated. Prepares room based on reason for client visits. Anticipate provider’s needs and follows through on treatment protocol within their role. Prepare medical record for visit, reviewing protocols due. Reviews chart and communicates anticipated care needs (ex: overdue labs & NSTs needed) Responsible for coordinating transportation of laboratory specimens to the reference laboratory as trained. Assist provider with procedures. Act as a chaperone when necessary. Assist patient in identifying and seeking help for specific problems. Provide education, within their scope, regarding health issues the patient is involved with. This will be under the direction of the M.D. Schedule follow-up prenatal appointments according to established visit schedule. Schedule additional laboratory tests and makes outside referral appointments (to the hospitals) with direction from the medical provider. Records pertinent data in the medical record and utilize appropriate tracking system. Assist in contacting patients for follow-up on missed appointments, recall testing, and outside referral appointments. Assists to load labs and other results to OB worksheet. Routinely stock rooms, order necessary supplies and prepare contaminated instruments for re-sterilization following OSHA exposure control guidelines. Maintain supply of prenatal intake folders and materials. Reschedule patients when providers are out of office. Train for cross coverage of family practice providers. Serves as a point of contact for care partners such as Maternal Fetal Medicine and High-Risk OB providers. Participate in the orientation of new personnel to medical assistants’ functions. Attend and participate in Amoskeag Health staff meetings and other meetings as directed; to include involvement in committees as requested. If absent, responsible for reading minutes of meetings and signing the documentation. Sensitivity to multicultural population served Attend mandatory safety-related and infection control in-services as designated by the Senior Management Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
: High School Diploma and completion of a Medical Assistant Program or equivalent medical training. Prefer experience in an ambulatory health care environment and
OB GYN. BLS
Certification required Fluent in English reading, writing, and understanding is required for patient safety. Spanish is preferred but not required.
Compensation :
Up to $25/hour based on experienced.
