Job Title Medical Assistant
Position Purpose The Medical Assistant (MA) assists in the evaluation and treatment of patients under the direction of the Medical Director (and in collaboration with the RN and other Wellness Center staff). The MA works both in a team and independently, and has basic skills in medical procedures, immunization administration, and phlebotomy. In addition, they provide clerical, environmental, andanizational office support and participates in health promotion programming.
Essential Duties Summary Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records on all undergraduate students; verify student health records forpleteness and follow up on any missing information as needed;
Document appropriately in the Medicat Electronic Health Record following established protocols;
Coordinate lab tests: collect and prepare specimens to send to lab; help Nurse Practitioner manage and follow lab results;
Prepare treatment rooms for examination of students, including stocking and cleaning;
Assist primary coordinator for NH Immunization Program; maintain immunization stock; administer NH State Immunizations to students; file necessary reports; assist with immunization clinic coordination;
Perform basic telephone screenings to schedule medical appointments with the RN or NP as indicated;
Assist NP/RN with procedures and examinations, room students for NP/RN, obtain vital signs; administer medication orally and by injection as directed by the NP;
Manage inventory by ordering medical supplies and materials, removing outdated materials and ensuring proper labeling;
Assist with collection of statistical data for Health Services Quality Assurance and other reports;
Assist with the development and implementation of health promotion programs for students;
Participate in professional development opportunities related to College Health;
Occasional weekend and evening hours as needed;
Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant or LNA program, or trained Military Medic.
Certification, Registration & Licensure in respective field
Current certification in Basic Life Support/CPR for Healthcare Providers
Preferred Qualifications Experience
5 years’ experience preferred
Skills/Kledge
Experience with electronic medical record system preferred
