Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and driven individual who enjoys being an integral part of a healthcare team and not just a number. This Medical Assistant role plays a vital part in the care delivery of a busy private practice, supporting the Medical Provider and collaborating with the other clinical and administrative staff.
Responsibilities:
Follows and upholds all Practice Policies and Procedures in the pursuit of excellent patient care Performs vital chart preparation activities based on the daily scheduled appointments. Ensures all diagnostic test results, and referring provider documentation is located in the medical record and accessible to the provider. Anticipates care information to support provider visit. Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials. Ensures cleanliness. Prepares list of medical supplies as needed. Prepares equipment and aids clinician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients when necessary. Greets patients/caregivers and follows service excellence standards. Performs rooming activities for provider visits and prepares patients for physical examination Assists provider with patient examination and procedures where appropriate Processes procedural instruments according to practice policy and procedures Processes medication prescription refills per practice guidelines using telephonic, electronic or print methods. Takes ownership of determining if authorization is required by the patient’s insurance for in office services, surgery, or durable medical equipment and obtains prior authorization when necessary. Orders supplies as designated. Manages clinical supply, exam rooms and DME storage areas to ensure that stock is current, stored appropriately, labeled and par levels maintained. Uses good oral and written communication skills to: respond to incoming patient/caregiver calls, document authorizations and referrals, delegate assignments, relay information, and act as liaison between patient, physicians, and other practice staff Maintains patient confidentiality at all times Able to work independently. Clinical competencies as required Other duties as assigned Qualifications Medical Assisting course and certification One-year experience working in a healthcare setting
