Medical Assistant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team in a fast-paced pain management office. The role involves rooming patients, collecting vitals, conducting blood pressure tests, screening patients with specific questions from the provider, and documenting health information in Electronic Medical Records (Athena). The position requires completing urine screens for drug testing, assigning specimen cups, obtaining specimens, labeling samples for shipment, and setting up injection trays for physicians. There is potential for giving injections or taking blood samples. Responsibilities Room patients and collect vital signs. Conduct blood pressure tests and screen patients with specific questions from the provider. Document health information in Electronic Medical Records (Athena). Complete urine screens for drug testing and manage specimen collection and preparation for shipment. Set up injection trays for physicians. Potentially administer injections or draw blood samples. Essential Skills Experience with Electronic Medical Records (Athena preferred, open to other platforms). 1 year of medical assistant experience in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of medical assisting duties. Phlebotomy skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Back office medical assisting experience required. Experience with phlebotomy preferred but not required. Work Environment This position is based in a pain management office, operating from 8AM to 5PM, Monday to Friday. Candidates should be flexible to start earlier or stay later as needed to ensure all patients are attended to. The physician typically sees 20-30 patients per day, many of whom are returning patients. Medical Assistants will receive a weekly schedule indicating their assigned location for the day. The dress code requires dark solid scrubs and closed-toe shoes. The office promotes from within, offering opportunities to advance to roles such as trainer or team lead. This role does not require weekend work, making it appealing for those coming from an Urgent Care setting.
