Main responsibilities include navigating patients, helping in the lab, and answering phones. Bi-lingual Spanish speaking is a plus. Prior experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
Job duties:
Performs chart review prior to clinic visit and obtains historical data. Obtains and records patient’s vital signs in EMR. Assists patients in wheelchairs and stretchers with transfers to and from exam tables, procedure tables, and scales, utilizing proper body mechanics and safety measures. Assists patients to exam room and prepares patients for examination. Collects patient information and assessment data, documents in EMR Assists practitioner in patient procedures and treatments such as injections and bone marrow biopsies Obtains prior authorization for scans, and other procedures Filling out disability paperwork Obtains and manages specimens, including labeling, form completion, transport to laboratories, and log maintenance Provides appropriate patient education, health information materials and community resource lists as directed. Maintains educational supplies. Orders, stocks, and maintains exam rooms and clinic areas with standard levels of supplies, medications, linens, nourishments, forms, and equipment. Operates CBC equipment according to equipment procedures including safety and quality control checks. Performs related and delegated tasks, including requests for prescription refills, taking, and relaying messages, directing patient flow, and running errands. Schedule appointments Verify patient demographic and insurance information Collects co-pays and outstanding bills Calls back patients, picks up phone calls, triages for appropriate care Route clinical questions and emergency calls to nursing staff or physician. Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information Effectively cope with typical job stress in a professional, calm manner
