Long term contract for a Medical Assistants to work in a medicalcenter in Far Rockaway, NY. The shift will be between the hours ofMonday – Friday 7:30am-7pm with alternate weekends. Idealcandidates will have 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistantand Certification.
Responsibilities:
Prepares patients forexamination and treatment. Collects detailed and accurate patienthistory. Prepares and maintains exam rooms with necessaryinstruments, equipment and supplies. Follows up with patient onphysicians current patient care notes or instructions. Providesgeneral assistance, education and information to patient questions.
Performs post-operative wound care, suture removal, dressingchange, cast removal, cast application and splint application.
Assists physicians in setup and performance of medical proceduresunder the direction of physician or nurse manager. Responsible formaintaining patient confidentiality. Prepares, cleans and stocksexamination rooms. Assures surfaces are clear and puts away anyarticles that were left out and replenishes missing stock indrawers and cabinets. Unpacks new supply deliveries and stores awayitems as directed. Assists members of clinical support staff andphysicians with all duties as necessary and appropriate. (includespatient care, post-op phone follow-up calls and other patient phonecalls, medication updates) Documents all phone calls and actionsappropriately in EMR. Follows all HIPAA regulations as instructed.
Performs other duties/projects as assigned. Greet and registerpatients in a prompt and pleasant manner. Instruct patients tocomplete registration, history and HIPAA acknowledgement forms.
Request updates from established patients. Collect and enter allinsurance referrals. Make copies of patient forms and insurancecards. Enter all demographic information and off-bill comments intobilling system. Call insurance carriers and patients for follow-upinformation to complete registration as needed. Instruct patientsabout referral and payment process as needed. Schedule andre-schedule appointments for patients. Takes message and respond torequests. Perform Expediter (escort patients to exam rooms) andCall Center duties as needed. Qualifications General knowledge ofoffice procedures and computer systems. Strong interpersonal andcustomer service skills Ability to handle high stress, busy workenvironment. Knowledge of Word & Outlook Required. Knowledge of
EPIC, GE
Centricity a plus. Pleasant, professional, and articulatephone skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Strongorganizational skills Medical Assistant Certification
