Job Description
P/T Medical Assistant 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars 11277 Vernon Place, Meadville, PA 16335
- Follow clinical assignment sheet daily including team duties.
- Coordinate patient flow.
- Room patient and obtain vital signs. New patients require verification of radiology or diagnostic test and report, review medical history and enter into flow sheet.
- Review with all patients their medical history and medications.
- Prepare patient for examination/procedure by practitioner.
- Prepare injections for practitioner.
- Change dressings, collect specimens and provide treatments as directed by practitioner.
- Remove and apply casts/splints/sutures/staples as directed by practitioner.
- Retrieve, document and complete phone messages from patients or other health care providers or route them appropriately per each team protocol.
- Provide DME to patients and complete DME flow of paperwork.
- Patient pre- and post-operative teaching as directed by practitioner.
- Schedule tests or appointments with hospital or other providers as needed.
- Assure the clinical area is clean and organized.
- Stock patient rooms as needed.
- Package instruments for sterilization.
- Observe and comply with all OAM personnel policies and procedures.
- Communicate and interact effectively with patients and families, physicians, peers and other team members to maximize successful patient outcomes.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient and staff related information.
- Follow compliance and safety requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Credentials and Skills:
- Current Pennsylvania RN or LPN license or MA certification as applicable.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Excellent patient care skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, patients, insurance companies and physician office personnel.
- Project and maintain a positive image in telephone interactions with patients, insurance companies, other health care providers and coworkers and maintain an appearance of composure under stressful situations.
- Basic computer, calculator, fax, copier skills.

- Ability to work as a team member of various work groups and multi-disciplinary problem-solving teams.
- Ability to hear and communicate via telephone with patients and staff.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, work independently without close supervision and respond to concerns of others with tact.
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties, shifting suddenly to new tasks as priorities change, adjusting work schedule to reflect changing situations and requirements.
- Ability to concentrate in a busy work area.

Physical Requirements :
The employee is regularly required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time; walk; and stoop, kneel, and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must possess the degree of total body strength necessary to assist patients with transfers and mobility; occasionally may need to push/pull >200 lbs when transporting patients in wheelchairs. Must be able to stretch, reach and retrieve equipment and supplies. Visual acuity, color vision, hearing acuity and tactile sensation are necessary to perform physical assessment of the patient including the ability to perform the following: obtain vital signs; respond to patient reports and requests; describe wounds, drainages, lesions, etc; read labels, gauges, dials and equipment alarms; perceive changes in skin color; identify medications and solutions; administer medications and injections.
