Job Requirements Position Summary A Laboratory Assistant Non-Technical registers patients/specimens by validating and keying correct demographic and billing information and performs compliant order verification. Orders lab procedures in the LIS. Accessions and processes all types of patient specimens in preparation for testing in the various sections of the laboratory. A Laboratory Assistant Non-Technical must follow established laboratory standards, practices, and procedures. Understands and complies with the Behavior Standards and department policies, procedures and regulations. Minimum Requirements Education High School Graduate or Equivalent
Phlebotomy certification Experience Intermediate level of computer knowledge and experience
3-6 months of Phlebotomy experience License/Registration/Certifications Certified Phlebotomist Preferred Requirements Preferred Education Certified Phlebotomist Preferred Experience Prior laboratory experience or hospital registration experience
Knowledge of ICD-10 coding

Receive, accession, and process all types of inpatient and outpatient specimens. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families, and visitors ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric.
