JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant may perform duties by giving care to patients of all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics under the direct supervision of a physician. A variety of tasks, which require a considerable amount of organization, are included in patient care. This may include performing an EKG, phlebotomy, patient work up, chart review and entering vital data either in a paper format or electronic format. Also, the Coumadin clinic is followed by a Medical Assistant.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience: Prefer two or three years in a medical physicians office. Previous experience performing EKG’s preferred.
Knowledge:
General phlebotomy and basic clinical knowledge required. Basic pharmacology preferred but will train.
Skills:
Phlebotomy skills are required or will be trained. Good communication skills. Good organizational and time management skills are required. Good interpersonal skills required as job requires frequent interaction with physicians and patients.
Abilities:
Must be able to multi-task in a busy office setting. Must have the ability to cross train in a variety of clinical tasks such as EKG’s, recording vitals, EMR recording, phlebotomy.
