Responsibilities :

Accurately performing a variety of clerical, technical, and housekeeping tasks in support of Pathology department workload.

Duties:

Ensures accurate accessioning of biopsies and maintains integrity of patient information throughout the process from receipt in laboratory to final storage of requisitions, reports, slides, and blocks Correctly matches specimen bottles with patient requisitions and assigns unique numerical identifier to every case Accurately labels specimen bottles, slides, and cassettes Assists in maintenance of log books and calculations for counts of bottles, blocks, and slides Performs inventory control of supplies, restocking, replenishing routine reagents, out‑dating expired reagents. Alerts Laboratory Supervisor of low inventory Responsible for maintaining a neat and clean laboratory environment Adheres to OSHA safety regulations Adheres to HIPAA regulations

Job Requirements:

Education Required:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Desired:

Some college or technical training with knowledge of biology preferred.

Equipment and Tools:

Proficient with computers, spreadsheets, standard office equipment, and slide labeler. Will help clean and maintain tissue processor, stainer, and paraffin dispenser.

General:

Diligence and attention to detail. Proactive. Ability to handle situations with diplomacy and tact. Ability to comply with patient confidentiality. Maintain neat professional appearance. Effective oral and written communication skills and problem solving techniques.
