CMA Certification Required 2 years of experiencepreferred Obtains patient medical information and vital signs perprotocols. Records and reports patient concerns to the medicalprovider. Records patient medical history, vital statistics, orinformation such as test results and vaccines in the ElectronicMedical Record (EMR). Prepares patient and exam room forexaminations and procedures. Assists provider with examining andtreating patients during medical procedures. Performs such tasks asgiving injections and medications as directed by the provider.

Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs thespecimens, and prepares for testing. Educates and communicates topatients on results, follow-up care, or discharge instructions.-Obtains and schedules patient referral appointments withoutpatient testing or additional care. Scans and entersimmunizations and medical data into the electronic health recordsystem. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes ofcontaminated supplies.
