Full Job Description Description:

Clinic Technician Eye Specialty Group is seeking a full-time Clinic Technician to make a difference. The Clinic Technician will assist all patients and Doctors. This position prepares patients for preliminary eye exams and obtains complete and accurate medical history. The Technician provides technical and logistical support for the Lead Clinic Technician in the clinic to facilitate patient flow and time management, while providing the highest standards of patient care. The position will be based at the Ridge Lake location, but travel to other sites as needed.

Essential Skills/Responsibilities:

Obtains and completes health history on all new patients; ensures that updated health history forms are completed annually for each patient. Provides patients with explanation of tests to be performed during work-up. Performs preliminary testing on patients including Argos, Pentacam, Immersion A-Scan, Contact A-Scan, B-Scan, Tonometry, visual acuity, automated visual fields, manual/automated lensometry, OPD. Endo cell count, Epic, OCT, automatic refraction, glare testing, EOM’s, confrontational fields, Manual K’s, Goldman Applanation Tonometry, and fundus photography, color vision, pachymetry, fusion test, tear lab, inflamma dry, lipiscan, and pupil exam. Able to perform manifest refractions on pre-op and post-op patients as needed. Ensures all Medical Necessity Forms are complete and accurate. Scribes for Doctors in exam rooms using EHR. Assists wheelchair patients in and out of chair. Must be able to help visually handicapped patients to work-up area. Maintains positive appearance of work-up and exam rooms, which includes general cleaning; proper sterilization technique throughout the clinic and on surgical equipment and proper storage of equipment and autoclave. Maintains medical instrument care and performs basic OR duties. Assists with injections and other minor procedures. Assists with early morning cataract clinic, as needed. Opens and closes work-up and exam lanes; keeps all areas stocked with supplies including special forms. Adds needed supplies to Cleaning Check-Off Forms that is to be signed daily. Assists in preparing cataract packets/laser packets, adds forms to charts, distributes letters to new cataract patients. Cross-trains and demonstrates competency in all clinics, including: Retina, Oculoplastics, Refractive, and Glaucoma. Takes photos of patients and imports into charts as needed. Sends before-and-after communications to patients and referring doctors. Maintains inventory as needed. Labels, packages, orders, sends, and receives all Lab work and Pathology. Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR Certified preferred. Adheres to HIPAA compliance plan. Communicates internally with all Physicians, Staff, and Patients. Communicates externally with vendors, drug representatives, etc. Travels to other clinics as needed. All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR six months related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. COA or working towards certification, with attainment of COA required within 24-36 months of employment per parameters in policy.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit/stand/walk and talk/hear as the job requires for long periods of time, as well as, stoop/crouch, lift, push/pull and climb/balance as needed. Corrected or uncorrected visual acuity in at least one eye of 20/40 or better. Ability to operate office equipment requiring the use of one hand. Ability to push and pull patients in stretchers and wheelchairs. Corrected or uncorrected hearing capacity to enable suitable telephone communication skills. Ability to work in clinical environment with a moderate noise level.
