Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in an academic field related to health science or allied sciences appropriate to the work of a histopathology technologist. Successful completion of Pathologist’s Assistant training Program 2-years of post-certification experience within the last 5-years as a certified pathology assistant Bachelor’s Degree (Required) ASCP Certification (Preferred) BLS (AHA ONLY) (Required)

Job Description:

Under the direction and supervision of a pathologist, a pathologists’ assistant may provide the following: Preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens Preparation of human postmortem examinations Instruction of anatomy and physiology, gross pathology, photography and gross dissection skills for surgical specimens as well as autopsy techniques Training of pathology residents/fellows, pathologists’ assistant students and other pathology lab personnel (as needed) Research, procurement of samples for bio-specimen banking Performance of administrative, teaching, and other such duties as may be appropriate and assigned.
