Our client is currently seeking a Inpatient Coder!
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and credentialed Inpatient Coder to join our Health Information Management Services (HIMS) team. This role is responsible for accurate and timely coding of inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and other applicable classification systems. The ideal candidate will have hospital-based coding experience and be proficient in using Optum and Epic systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze inpatient medical records to assign appropriate
ICD-10-CM/PCS
codes. Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal regulations and organizational policies. Collaborate with clinical staff and HIMS leadership to resolve documentation and coding discrepancies. Maintain productivity and quality standards as defined by the department. Utilize Optum and Epic platforms for coding and documentation review. Stay current with coding guidelines, regulatory changes, and payer requirements. Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Credentials:
Must hold one or more of the following: RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) AHIMA or AAPC equivalent coding certification
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of hospital-based inpatient coding experience required. Proficiency in Optum and Epic systems preferred. Strong knowledge of
ICD-10-CM/PCS
coding systems and DRG assignment. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Ability to work independently and meet productivity standards in a remote or onsite environment.
