Our client is currently seeking a HIMS Inpatient Coder •This is a fully remote W2 contract opportunity!• This job will have the following responsibilities: Review and analyze patient medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes for hospital inpatient services. Ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations to facilitate proper billing and reimbursement processes. Translate medical terminology into standardized codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems. Maintain the accuracy and completeness of clinical data for reimbursement purposes. Collaborate with the medical billing department to ensure all billed services are properly coded. Resolve discrepancies in coding and create procedure codes as necessary. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the health information management profession. Stay updated with changes in coding regulations and guidelines. Train and educate healthcare providers on proper documentation and coding practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Proficient in ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems. At least one of the following – RHIT, RHIA, CCS, AHIMA, or AAPC Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding procedures. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and remotely. Effective communication skills for collaboration with healthcare providers and billing specialists. Knowledge of data privacy regulations and confidentiality guidelines. Familiarity with EPIC and Optum software. Candidates
