Medical Coder Southern Pain and Spine Fayetteville, GA 30214 Job Overview We are an Interventional Pain Management practice seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our Billing Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role is essential in facilitating efficient medical billing processes and maintaining the integrity of patient records. The Coding Specialist will work closely with healthcare providers, billing departments, and insurance companies to ensure accurate coding practices are followed. Duties Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems. Ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in accordance with medical terminology and coding guidelines. Collaborate with medical staff to clarify any discrepancies or incomplete information in patient records. Process medical billing and collections efficiently, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding practices, regulations, and changes within the healthcare industry. Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency. Participate in audits and quality assurance activities to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) standards. Qualifications Proven experience in medical coding, preferably within a medical office or healthcare setting. Proficiency in
CPT, ICD-10, DRG
coding systems, and medical terminology is essential. Familiarity with medical billing processes and medical collections is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication skills for interacting with healthcare professionals and administrative staff. Certification from a recognized coding organization (e.g., AAPC or AHIMA) is preferred but not mandatory. Pain Management or Ortho experience a plus.
