Our client is currently seeking an Inpatient Coder! This is a 3-month contract to hire role.

Credentials Required:

RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or other

AHIMA/AAPC

coding credentials

Review and interpret health record documentation to accurately identify primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures for inpatient billing. Assign and sequence

ICD-10-CM/PCS

diagnosis and procedure codes. Apply Present on Admission (POA) indicators and calculate MS-DRG, Severity of Illness (SOI), and Risk of Mortality (ROM) levels in accordance with: Official coding guidelines Coding compliance policies CMS and third-party payer requirements Assess high-risk quality cases to initiate pre-bill coding review processes. Abstract and compile clinical data elements (e.g., attending physician, surgeon, consultants, ED physician, birth weight) per company guidelines. Validate and correct patient status, admission/discharge dates, and discharge disposition to ensure accurate DRG and length of stay. Query physicians when documentation is ambiguous, inadequate, or unclear for coding and compliance. Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists to enhance coding accuracy and documentation quality. Maintain productivity and coding quality metrics as defined in the job description. Stay current with coding guidelines and updates (e.g., Coding Clinic publications). Complete all required training and maintain credentials through continuing education as per Coding Compliance standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
