Summary:
The Director of Medical Affairs and Credential Verification Organization (CVO) provides leadership, management, and operational oversight in all areas of the medical staff services, medical staff communications, health system credentialing, and privileging. Assists Medical Staff leadership in the development, implementation, and adherence to medical staff organization governing structure and documents, as well as adheres to accrediting body and state and federal regulatory requirements. The Director is responsible for budgetary planning, developing, and maintaining policies/procedures applicable to the Medical Affairs/CVO department and relating to credentialing, quality and administrative functioning.
Responsibilities:
Oversees and participates in regulatory surveys.
Works close in a matrixed relationship with hospital medical staff teams.
Develops and implements system goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Actively maintains Medical Staff governance documents (Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Department Rules and Regulations).Provides any relevant assistance to MHS and/or contracted outside legal team.
Manages and evaluates operations, including information technologies, service level determination and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Oversees the build and implementation of med-staff software, credentialing and ongoing physician quality. Oversees maintenance, revisions, and creation of Delineation of Privilege forms, based on current practices, in conjunction with medical staff.
Prepares and evaluates relevant budgets. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Required Work Experience:
Five (5) years’ experience in hospital and/or managed care credentialing/privileging. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management/leadership experience in health care setting.

Additional Certification Info:
Within three (3) years and ongoing: National Association Medical Staff Services certification. Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialists (CPCS).
