Job Description
The Medical Director of Rheumatology will provide leadership, along with oversight for the creation and development of the Rheumatology department at Orlando Health. This role involves strategic planning, program development, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The Medical Director will work collaboratively with other departments and lead a team of rheumatologists to advance the field of rheumatology through clinical excellence, research, and education.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for the Rheumatology department, including strategic planning and program development. Oversee clinical operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to best practices and accreditation standards. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Foster a collaborative environment that supports clinical excellence, research, and education. Engage in recruitment and retention of top talent in rheumatology. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive patient care. Lead and support research initiatives in rheumatology. Perform and interpret a variety of rheumatologic diagnostic tests and treatments, including joint injections, ultrasound-guided procedures, and biologic therapies. Provide consultations and second opinions on complex rheumatologic cases. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of diagnostic results to referring physicians and patients. Stay current with advancements in rheumatology to continuously improve patient care.
Qualifications:
MD, DO, or MD/PhD with American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in Rheumatology. Five years or more experience with a proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership in rheumatology. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to advancing the field of rheumatology through research and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with program development and strategic planning. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team.
