Full Job Description Reporting Structure:
The Managing Veterinarian works under the direct supervision of the Practice Owners and collaborates closely with the Veterinary Practice Manager and support team. They provide leadership to the veterinary team and are responsible for the overall medical performance and patient care standards within the hospital.
Job Overview:
The purpose of this position is to serve as the lead veterinarian at PetSmart Veterinary Services in Boca Raton. The Managing Veterinarian oversees the clinical team, establishes medical protocols, ensures quality patient care, and supports business goals through mentorship and leadership. In addition to providing high-quality veterinary care, this role includes administrative responsibilities, mentorship of associate veterinarians, and fostering a collaborative and efficient hospital culture. This position requires a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, excellent communication skills, and leadership abilities. Regular attendance and timeliness are essential to fulfill the requirements of this role. Essential Functions:
Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care to patients. Lead and mentor veterinary team members, including associate veterinarians and support staff. Establish, update, and enforce medical protocols and hospital policies. Partner with the Practice Owner and Practice Manager on business operations and hospital performance. Oversee and support client communication, treatment planning, and patient follow-up. Maintain thorough and accurate medical records for all patients. Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and team-building initiatives. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards (DEA, OSHA, etc.). Assist with inventory management and equipment maintenance, when needed.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
Full Time 10-hour shifts depending on hospital needs Monday-Sunday schedule (with regular days off on Tuesday and Wednesday)

Education and Experience:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree required Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Florida Minimum 2-5 years of clinical experience required Previous leadership or management experience preferred
