The Opportunity – We are looking to hire a highly efficient Director of Medical Billing to oversee all tasks assigned to the revenue cycle department staff. The Director of Medical Billing’s responsibilities include point of contact for third party medical billing companies, identifying patient reimbursement issues, ensuring that claims, denials, and appeals are efficiently processed, and resolving billing-related issues. You should also be able to code diagnoses and procedures correctly. To be successful as a Director of Medical Billing, you should be able to manage the ongoing operations of the third party companies contacted by the company to ensure timely filed and paid claims. Ultimately, a top-performing Director of Medical Billing should seek ways to improve the functioning of the revenue cycle process to ensure efficient revenue generation. Duties/Responsibilities- Supervised by the CFO and CEO Implementing a system to ensure that accurate billing information is entered into the billing system Supervising the revenue cycle management with third party billing company contacts in various duties, such as account management, communications with insurance providers, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, and billing Reviewing financial hardship applications with the on staff Financial Counselor Reviewing denied claims to identify cause and rectify errors with third party billing companies Ensuring that communication between the company and third party billing companies is consistent and productive Confirming that correct coding is being used for billed claims Verify up-to-date payer credentialing on an on-going basis Performs additional duties as assigned by executives Performs other related duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities- Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Problem-solving skills Team-collaborative Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, including Teams. Experience using Availity, CollabMD, and EMR systems Proven experience in healthcare billing for substance abuse and mental health Sound knowledge of health insurance providers Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, healthcare administration, or related field At least four years of related experience required Experience working in a substance abuse/mental health/healthcare billing setting
