Job Description

Physician – Medical Director Primary Care CBOC at MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society
Boston, MA 02298 Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply. Qualifications To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the announcement. Pending training or license completion may allow for tentative referral and selection, but employment is contingent upon meeting all requirements. Current VA-employed physicians who initially qualified under previous standards are deemed to meet the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements include:

U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
Degree of MD or equivalent from an approved school
Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
Completed residency training approved by the VA
For residents: enrolled in ACGME/AOA-accredited programs, eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs)
Proficiency in English

Preferred:

Board certification, experience in primary care and ambulatory clinic management, population health management, evidence-based guidelines, adult learning principles
Physical and emotional fitness evaluation required prior to appointment
Duties
Provide high-quality care to Veterans at VA Boston Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Plymouth, Quincy, Framingham, and Lowell
Manage a patient panel with approximately 1250 patients per physician
Work approximately 51% clinical and 49% administrative time
Develop educational initiatives and lead clinical quality improvement projects
Participate in teaching and research, with academic appointments at Harvard Medical School or Boston University School of Medicine
Work schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30AM – 4:00PM
