If you applied previously, you will need to re-apply in order to be considered. The Forsyth County Emergency Services is seeking a Emergency Services Assistant Chief. Distinguishing Features Through knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies governing the aspects of EMS emergency services. Considerable knowledge of advanced emergency medical care practices, procedures, protocols, and techniques. Considerable knowledge of the policies and procedures established by the department. Skilled in performing duties required of a North Carolina certified EMT. Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others, including direction, mentoring, counseling and disciplining subordinates. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise operations of EMS department and plan, coordinate and evaluate the work of others. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, other departments and external partners. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from college with an Associates Degree in Business, Accounting or EMS and five years field experience in pre-hospital care OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or EMS and three years field experience in pre-hospital care. A four-year degree outside the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered. Prefer previous supervisory experience. Requires certification by the NC Department of Human Resources Office of Emergency Medical Services and the NC Board of Medical Examiners as an EMT-Paramedic. Must have a valid driver’s license. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide direction and supervision for the activities of Forsyth County EMS to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to reduce Morbidity and morality. Develop and monitor internal process and audits controls. Conduct performance appraisals, interview prospective applicants for vacancies and promotions; issue discipline and mentor, coach and train subordinates; monitor the scheduling of personnel. Ensure the EMS departmental policies are adhered to and assist with the implementation of departmental polices and standard operating guidelines. Ensure personnel safety and accountability for EMS staff ,work with career volunteer personnel alike to maintain seamless operations during emergency and non-emergency situations. Communicate and collaborate effectively with supervisors, peers and subordinates. May respond to disasters to monitor and coordinate emergency services in conjunction with other public health and safety officials at emergency operations center. Under the direction of the Chief of Emergency Services and Deputy Chief of EMS, perform other duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the Chief of Emergency Services or Deputy Chief of EMS based on workloads and department needs. Certain assignments may require specific certifications or credentials to fulfill. Performs related work as required Maintain a driver’s license in good standing, without a lapse or loss of privilege to drive in compliance with North Carolina law, and in compliance with applicable DOT standards for commercial motor vehicle drivers to perform the duties assigned to the position.
