Position Summary:
The Medical Director provides clinical leadership, strategic direction, and regional oversight for our growing behavioral health programs at R&C Consulting Group. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across all mental health programs while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The Medical Director supervises psychiatric providers and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated behavioral health care. This person will be based in Gastonia or Monroe, NC with virtual/in-person visits to all our locations. Clinical Oversight Provide psychiatric supervision and leadership to clinical teams. Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, scope of practice, and quality standards in mental health diagnosis and treatment. Review and approve clinical protocols, policies, and procedures. Oversee prescribing practices and medication management, ensuring safe and ethical use of psychotropic medications. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure agency compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DHHS, Medicaid, CARF, Joint Commission). Participate in audits, quality assurance reviews, and clinical documentation oversight. Monitor medical record documentation for accuracy and completeness. Program Development & Leadership Lead the development and implementation of integrated treatment models. Evaluate new service offerings and provide clinical insight into expansion opportunities. Participate in strategic planning and risk management. Collaboration & Supervision Supervise and evaluate performance of psychiatric providers and medical staff. Collaborate with clinical supervisors, therapists, peer support staff, and administrative leaders. Serve as a liaison between the medical team and executive leadership. Client Care Support Provide direct psychiatric evaluations and medication management when needed. Review complex cases and provide clinical consultations across teams. Support crisis intervention protocols and clinical decision-making for high-risk clients.
Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. with board certification in Psychiatry. Current, unrestricted medical license in NC. Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry; 2+ years in a leadership role. Experience in community mental health or integrated behavioral health settings. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, Medicaid, and managed care environments. Ability to lead diverse teams and drive performance in alignment with organizational goals.
