Full time Regional Medical Director – Hiring Immediately + ProSal – Richmond, Virginia area A distinguished partner hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated Regional Medical Director to oversee a portfolio of 20-35 animal hospitals in the Richmond, Virginia area.

This field-based role provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with passionate veterinary teams, ensuring exceptional patient care, supporting staff development, and driving operational excellence.

The Regional Medical Director will travel within the region, working directly with hospital staff to enhance medical practices and overall hospital performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, mentor, and support veterinary teams, offering guidance on complex medical cases and fostering a positive, collaborative work culture.

Ensure high-quality patient care by monitoring doctor interactions, medical protocols, and treatment standards.

Assist in resolving staff and client conflicts, promoting effective communication and problem-solving strategies.

Work alongside practice managers and regional directors to optimize business operations and enhance overall hospital performance.

Conduct quarterly inspections of hospitals to maintain high standards of care and operational excellence.

Review and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, visit trends, and patient outcomes, implementing strategies for improvement.

Provide mentorship to new graduate veterinarians, helping them successfully transition into their roles and advance in their careers.

Ensure compliance with all medical, operational, and regulatory standards, including maintaining accurate licensing records and DEA logs.

Step in to fill urgent staffing needs and provide support for complex cases when necessary.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a skilled and compassionate veterinarian with significant leadership experience and a passion for advancing animal care.

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications include:

DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.5+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with leadership experience preferred.

Active veterinary license and DEA in good standing for Virginia (or ability to obtain).Strong analytical skills with the ability to review performance data and implement effective solutions.

Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with veterinary teams and other stakeholders.

Ability to travel regularly within the Richmond area to support hospitals across the region.

Location & Travel:

This field-based position is located in the Richmond, Virginia area and requires frequent travel to multiple hospitals within the region.

Candidates should be based in or near Richmond to facilitate efficient travel logistics.
