Overview The Medical Director, Gene Therapy will develop andimplement Medical Affairs strategy for gene therapy portfolioproducts across all geographic regions ensuring a cohesiveapproach. This role will be responsible for all Medical Affairsactivities, ensuring partnership within the team (medical strategy,scientific communications and publications) all key Medical Affairsfunctions (Medical Excellence, HEOR, Field Medical, MedicalInformation) as well as maintaining a high-level ofcross-functional collaboration across the organization to ensurealignment and “One Insmed” approach. Responsibilities Establish andcraft the medical strategy for entry into gene therapy acrossindications ?ensuring proper alignment across functions and withthe overall company strategy. Develop and implement Medical Affairsplans? to ensure that strategy is reflected in medical plans andthat these deliver on critical identified landmarks in launchplanning. Provide medical leadership input for cross functionalpartners including Clinical, Operations, HEOR, and Commercial ?toensure that there is a strong medical voice represented. Buildexternal relationship network across therapy areas to support trialenrollment, launch preparation and gain advice. ? Develop datageneration strategy, including gap analysis, to evolve product datageneration plans and ensure there is “OneMedical” strategy. ?Review publications, help create medical backgrounders, FAQ andstandard responses, and develop internal training approach?.Propose future Medical Affairs team to support programs as theyprogress. Develop full thought leader engagement strategic approachand ensuing plan Partner with Medical Strategy, Regions, andFinance to plan and manage annual budget for medical activities.
Ensure a comprehensive and harmonious approach by collaboratingacross Medical Affairs, Regions, and other functions includingCommercial and Development. Drive a One Insmed and Franchiseapproach to gene therapy. Partner with key collaborators toidentify and integrate innovative ideas and standard methodologiesinto strategies, plans, and activities. Ensure compliance with allapplicable Insmed policies.
Position Requirements:
MD degree isstrongly preferred or PhD with previous leadership position inMedical Affairs with 6 years’ experience. Strong knowledge ofMedical Affairs and understanding of launch planning required.
Previous experience in Gene Therapy or Biologics required.
Experience in neurological or retinal therapies highly preferred.
Global experience or experience in multiple regions is anadvantage. Individual will need to be comfortable in the “gray” andto be able to work fast and develop innovative ways of working.
Ability to work independently and comfortable to serve as the MArepresentative at various meetings. ? Ability to operate seamlesslyin a Matrixed organization?. Ability to work collaboratively withmultiple partners and functions. Proven track record of leadingprocess and operational excellence and developing planningstandards. Strong strategic problem solver with high attention todetail and the ability to connect multiple components. Proven trackrecord of effectively inspiring change. Strong communication skills(written, verbal). Enables creative problem solving, encouragesunique solutions, and optimally solves challenging problems.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (25%).
