Basic Qualifications:
- -Graduation from a state-approved school of nursing
- -Licensed to practice and current registration to practices as a Registered professional Nurse in NY State.
- -Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- -Evidence of leadership and management continuing education activities
- -Completion of Critical Care course
- -Unit specific certification preferred to Medical/Surgical
- -2 to 5 years experience as a nursing leader in area assigned with experience in direct clinical supervision
- -Current BLS and ACLS certification.
PALS preferred.
Primary Function:
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Director of Medical/Surgical and Intensive Care Units is responsible for the provision of professional nursing support service line including the daily management and direction and supervision of functions and activities (internal and external) specific to the assigned service line. The director participates in the development of departmental policies and standards of care and assists with quality and risk management pertaining to the nursing service line supervised. The director is an integral part of the Nursing Leadership team. The director collaborates with other nursing leadership, physicians, and ancillary department implementing and evaluating services, programs and activities with the goal of continuous performance. The director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and coordination of care on the assigned service line including responsibility for cost center budgets. The director assists in supervision of all acute nursing service lines, nursing service functions and activities as requested by the CNO or their designee. #wyhosp
