  • Days (United States of America) The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) is responsible for overseeing the clinical operations across Roper St.

Francis Healthcare. This role leads the development and execution of clinical initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision for high-quality, patient-centered care. Working cooperatively and collaboratively with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) as their dyad partner, this position plays a critical role in optimizing the performance of the Integrated Practice Networks (IPNs), driving improvements in clinical outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial performance, while fostering strong collaboration with providers and clinical teams. This position reports directly to the President & CEO of Roper St. Francis Healthcare

  • Essential Job Functions
  • + Provides strategic leadership in advancing clinical quality, patient safety, and service excellence across the organization.

Builds and nurtures strong partnerships with providers and clinical teams to support a collaborative and high-standard care environment. + Collaborates with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) to co-lead Integrated Practice Networks (IPNs), driving both operational and clinical excellence. Focuses on optimizing care delivery, enhancing clinical and financial performance, and elevating the patient experience through the integration of strategic plans with the IPNs. + Oversees population health initiatives, including the Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and ambulatory care services. Partners with the COO to align operational functions with clinical objectives. + Leads the development and execution of a comprehensive safety and quality improvement strategy. Works closely with the COO to enhance IPN performance through outcome-driven care coordination and integrated service models. + Provides strategic oversight for Physician Partners, aligning efforts in clinical care, quality improvement, and patient safety. Collaborates with physician leaders to strengthen performance, foster partnerships, and achieve shared clinical goals. + Directs clinical staff, department chairs, committees, and task forces in monitoring and advancing clinical outcomes. Utilizes data analytics, trend evaluation, and specific performance metrics/goals/KPIs to ensure alignment with system-wide quality benchmarks. + Supports medical staff education and ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. + Collaborates with COO to develop strategy related to physician practice acquisitions and hospital-based physician coverage arrangements. + Leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of organization-wide safety, quality and performance initiatives. Coordinates with risk management, infection control, and safety teams to align clinical resources/efforts with IPN goals and operational priorities. + Acts as a key liaison for quality initiatives, engaging Medical Executive Committees, Executive Leadership, and Hospital Boards. Ensures that governance bodies remain informed and actively involved in quality improvement efforts. Partners with system leadership to define and achieve quality improvement goals and strategies. Recommends quality indicators for inclusion in the Corporate Scorecard, ensuring alignment between clinical outcomes and financial performance. + Champions the development of high-performing teams, fostering alignment with RSFH’s mission, vision, and values. Promotes a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration in patient care delivery. + Represent RSFH to external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, trade associations, elected officials, and the broader healthcare community, building strategic partnerships and advancing the organization’s priorities. + Ensures organizational compliance with all relevant state, federal, and regulatory agency standards, including The Joint Commission requirements. Actively supports adherence to evidence-based care, patient safety, and quality standards. + Complies with all duties and functions listed in the IPN Document and RAPID Matrix.   • Licensing/Certification
  • + Licensed Medical Doctor, Board Certification in Specialty (required)
  • Education
  • + Meets all clinical training qualifications as a physician and in the medical staff bylaws (required) + Must be considered in good standing in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations (required) + Maintains active membership and good standing with the Medical Society of South Carolina (required)
  • Work Experience
  • + Experience managing system-wide medical staff quality initiatives, patient safety and performance improvement activities directed by evidence-based medicine (required) + 10 years of progressively responsible and complex professional experience in a clinical/medical management function (required) + 4+ years of leadership experience, including responsibility for fiscal and medical staff management (required) •
