The Opportunity Provides medical oversight to Medical StaffAssociates, including the training of other physicians and MedicalStaff Associates. Usually serves as the primary center physicianregistered as the Laboratory Director with CLIA. You will reportdirectly to the Center Manager, with dotted line reporting to theDivision Medical Director. The Role

  • Serves as the primaryphysician for reporting to the Food and Drug Administration, insuch capacity provides medical oversight in compliance withapplicable Federal and State regulations including the applicablesections of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, andmonitors medical compliance of the center.
  • Either serves as ordelegates to another appropriate physician the duties of”laboratory director”, “technical consultant”, or “clinicalconsultant” as prescribed by the Clinical Laboratory ImprovementAct of 1988 regulations (CLIA). May be required to provide directoversight of total protein testing
  • Reviews, understands, andcomplies with all CSL Plasma Services policies and procedures inthe performance of services. Maintains high medical standards andensures that cGMPs are adhered to through involvement with centermanagement, center quality unit, and overall center activities. Isphysically present in the center for designated work schedules
  • Provides medical oversight to Medical Staff Associates, includingtheir training, although such training may be delegated to anapproved Medical Staff Associate and observes MSAs periodically.

Functionally directs the Center Medical Staff. Provides training toother center staff on medically related procedures andpractices

  • Meets with Medical Staff Associates at least once amonth to discuss medically related topics.

Documents each meeting.

May serves as a member of the Quality Assurance Team. Acts as aliaison between the Corporate or Divisional Medical Director andthe Center Medical Staff

  • Responds to inquiries regarding donorsuitability for plasmapheresis. Responds to calls from and providesinstruction to Center Medical Staff with donor suitabilityquestions. Conducts confidential and effective interviews withdonors to obtain information in a variety of situations. Interviewsdonors with positive STS/negative FTA anddocuments approval toresume donating
  • Maintains confidentiality with respect toemployee, donor and center records reviewed during the course ofall duties. Responsible for overseeing maintenance of medicalsupplies and other emergency equipment
  • Reviews and signsmoderate and severe medical incident reports prior to donor beingpermitted to resume donating. Reviews abnormal test resultsincluding abnormal protein electrophoresis (PE) test results anddonor record files. Reviews normal PE test results following anabnormal one and documents approval to resume donating
  • Assuresthe health and safety of donors participating in the non-red bloodcell immunization programs, if applicable. Monitors donor clinicalresponse to immunizations, when applicable. Oversees hyper-immuneprograms, if applicable
  • For red cell recipients in the Anti-DProgram, if applicable: Performs qualifying evaluation (e.g.administers consents, medical history and physical exam) on donorsbefore enrollment; provides review and approval for red blood cellimmunization; is present when red cell immunizations are given
  • Determines donor suitability following donor adverse reactions(DAE). Maintains current knowledge of infectious disease markers(i.e. HIV, HBV, HCV, syphilis, etc.)
  • May perform CenterPhysician functions including but not limited to notifying donorsof unsuitable test results, performing screening medicalevaluations, assessing results of donor screening and laboratorytests to determine a donor’s initial and continued suitability forplasmapheresis, explaining informed consent materials to donors
  • May support Corporate Medical Operations with additional duties asand when requested by the company. Your skills and experienceEducation
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical orosteopathic school
  • Must maintain a current and active medicallicense in the state in which the Center is located
  • Ifapplicable for state regulations, must meet all state specificeducational requirements. Experience
  • One year of residencytraining as an MD or OD
  • If applicable for state regulations,must meet all state specific experience requirements.

AdditionalCommentsFamiliarity with Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and allrelevant procedures in the company Plasma Operating Procedures.

  • Required towear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasksor in certain areas
  • Travel to multiple centers other thanprimary location may be required
  • Frequent standing andwalking
  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
